>>My name is Rob Shumsky and I am a professor at the tech school My area of expertise is operations management
And I especially enjoy studying service operations; I've done work with airlines, hotels, telephone call centers, hospitals, dental clinics This is my first year teaching in the master's program for healthcare delivery science and it's been a great experience so far The students have been absolutely wonderful They bring to the program I think a sort of thirst for knowledge and a desire to take what we're teaching them and almost immediately apply it to what they do and that's been refreshing They're an energetic bunch; they're open-minded, they're funny
So I've enjoyed it so far The program is unique in a lot of ways And one thing that's unique about it is the fact that it's being developed across the entire campus here at Dartmouth I'm familiar with MBA programs that have a healthcare focus and they are being developed exclusively within business schools I'm familiar with masters of public policy programs and they've been developed exclusively within schools of public policy
I'm familiar with efforts within medical schools to create some sort of delivery science programs within the medical schools But this is the only place I've seen where we've seen collaboration among business schools, policy people at the Dartmouth institute, people from the medical school, people from the medical center here to create a brand new program and I think that's been really exciting
